What is the Pretrial Intervention Program?
The Pretrial Intervention Program (PTI) gives the opportunity to people, usually first time offenders, to engage in rehabilitation programs under probation supervision with the principle being that this will deter them from committing any further crimes. Once a person has completed PTI, there will be no record of conviction. This allows individuals to avoid record or a criminal conviction that will adversely affect them in the future.
Participation in the PTI program is for up to three years, depending upon the circumstances surrounding your case. You may have to participate in random urine monitoring while on the program, and in rehabilitation treatment programs. Restitution may be imposed as well as having to do community service. Upon successful completing the PTI program, your charges will be dismissed. In the event that you do not complete the program, your case will become active again. A New Jersey drug crime attorney from the Law Offices of Allan Marain will be able to answer questions that you may have concerning the PTI program.
